Newton Running is the pioneer in design and manufacture of high performance footwear that promotes natural running form.
Headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Newton Running is the first company to design shoes that promote natural running form. The product incorporates the company’s patented Action / Reaction Technology, which absorbs and returns energy back to the runner through actuator lugs inside the shoe’s sole. According to third-party lab tests, Newton shoes deliver lower impact per mile, greater energy return and greater cushioning when compared to other leading running shoe models. Newton was the #3 brand worn at the 2013 Ford Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, and was worn by Craig Alexander during his three victories at the same event in 2008, 2009, and 2011. The shoes are currently sold in specialty running stores in the US and worldwide, direct through the Company’s website, and at select events. FCP sold its investment in Newton Running in April 2017.
With an innovative product on the forefront of the minimalist trend in running — essentially replicating a shoeless stride — Newton Running held the potential to own the industry’s biggest innovation in decades.
The Partnership with FCP
Working closely with founder and avid marathoner Jerry Lee, Fireman Capital Partners brought on two former seasoned footwear executives to advise the business on product development and marketing initiatives. Together, the team has collectively driven robust new product entries, enhanced supply chain efficiencies, and introduced dynamic marketing strategies.
