Doug Rubin

Doug Rubin joined FCP in September of 2009, bringing his twenty years of experience developing winning strategies and managing successful organizations.  At FCP Doug plays a critical role in the evaluation of and management of FCP's investment vehicles. Doug spent the past 2-½ years as Chief of Staff to Governor Deval Patrick, with responsibility for executing the administration’s policy agenda and overseeing the day-to-day management of state government. He is credited with bringing stability and professional management to the Executive Office.  He also spent three years as the First Deputy Treasurer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with direct oversight of the $4 billion State Lottery, the $40 billion State Pension Fund, the Commonwealth’s cash and debt management, and the State Treasurer’s office.

Doug was also the founder of a successful consulting company, with a mix of political and corporate clients.  He developed the strategy and helped execute the two biggest “upset” campaigns of the past two election cycles in Massachusetts - the Deval Patrick campaign for Governor in 2006 and the Tim Cahill for Treasurer campaign in 2002.  Doug won a national “Pollie” award for the Cahill campaign, and the innovative “Tim for Treasurer” ad he created is widely recognized as “forever holding a place in Massachusetts political lore.”

Doug currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Pilla, Inc. and is a director of Fireman Capital Advisors.  He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and earned a Masters in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  Doug is a recipient of the 1997 Policy Analysis Exercise Award presented by the Kennedy School for his thesis, “Leveling the Playing Field: Minority Candidates Running in Majority-White Districts”.  He lives outside Boston with his wife Stacy and their three daughters, Jordan, Skylar, and Olivia.
